For four decades, I’ve called Alaska home – a place that dances between breathtaking landscapes and dark brutal winters, between the winter auroras, and hot smoke-filled summers. Not only did I grow up here, but I’ve also had the privilege of raising my kids in this Last Frontier, with portions of its bygone era sprinkled in. But it’s not just a place to live, it’s been an adventure.
It's hard to choose what adventures to share. With my children, one of my favorites is when they were toddlers, we watched out their bedroom window as they tried so hard to hold back their squeals and bouncing excitement as baby moose, only a few days old, playfully butted heads over our sprinkler while their old, scarred and tired momma rested against our home. There was the marmot family that called the front yard of my childhood family home their home for a winter, and I'll never forget when I was a teen, my family hopped into our yellow Subaru, we didn't drive a quarter mile when my dad had to slam on the breaks as a moose fled past our car followed by three wolves in pursuit as they all raced into the marsh and tundra.
There really is no place quite like where my heart will always call home.

Our family journeys have taken us on long-term adventures across the U.S., but like a magnetic force, we find ourselves drawn back to Alaska. If it were not for the long, cold, dark winters I could see myself living in Alaska forever, but these winters add up and have a way of nudging me toward warmer adventures.
I’m grateful to the Lord for Alaska, it’s here that my kids and I have formed strong relationships and community. It’s here that the Lord used the long, dark winters to provide an opportunity to plan toward my future. That provision showed itself in the 10+ years of gaining admin skills, and during the cold nights of the winter months I would turn up the heat and study B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to consumer) copywriting, content writing, marketing, and much more.

I didn’t simply stumble into those classes and courses; rather, I thank the Lord for gifting me with a mind that’s curious to research "all the things". It’s that curiosity that led me to the work I do now. No matter where the workplace or the people I am around, when I hear or see a need for help, I can’t help but dive in and uncover a solution.
